TECHNIQUE
Technology is an integral part of our everyday lives. After all, there is almost no area of life in which technology doesn't play a role. Contrary to the claims of atheistic science, technological development did not begin in the Stone Age, but rather with the expulsion of the first humans from paradise for their rebellion against God. In subsequent generations, two groups of people emerged: While some placed their trust in God and obeyed His commandments, the Creator of all things increasingly lost importance for others. As a result, the earth was soon filled with suffering and misery....
God and technology are in no way contradictory. After all, it is God who endowed us humans with creative gifts. What matters is how and for what purpose humans use their talents. There are undoubtedly useful inventions that make life in this fallen world easier and more convenient, easing our daily burdens. The problem begins when we humans try to replace God with technology. The enthusiasm for technology today is so great that for many, consciously or unconsciously, it assumes the status of a deity, even though it can in no way replace God.
Like so many things in life, technological development, especially in connection with the globalization of the market, has a downside: Not all technical inventions serve the good of humanity. Some pose enormous dangers and risks, as critics rightly point out. This includes, above all, military technology. While in past times people fought each other in bloody battles with swords and clubs or bows and arrows, today we are able to deliberately and anonymously take thousands of human lives within a few seconds at the push of a button. Technical devices such as computers or smartphones are causing more and more people, especially children and young people, to isolate themselves from reality and their fellow human beings. The constant overstimulation leads to addiction in many and makes users increasingly insensitive to natural environmental stimuli. There have been few long-term studies to date regarding the possible health consequences associated with regular use of these devices. Some technology is used to monitor and control people. The digitalization of the monetary system is also increasing citizens' dependence on the state and the economy.
Another downside of technological progress is increasing environmental destruction. This includes the deforestation and the resulting destruction of habitats for plants and animals, leading to the extinction of millions of species. Added to this is the contamination of groundwater and soil by chemicals and industrial waste products, which in turn impacts the health of many people. Profit-driven mass production leads to the exploitation of humans and animals in many places, sometimes under appalling conditions. With increasing technological advancement, the global consumption of resources, many of which are in limited supply, also increases. And much more...
Despite the rapid development of technology in recent decades, many problems remain unsolved to this day. The fact is that technological progress cannot save our planet. Only God is capable of doing that. If all people turned to their Creator and lived according to His commandments, all problems would be solved, and some technology we consider indispensable would become superfluous (weapons, computers, telephones, means of transportation, chemical medicines, etc.). In addition, the world we live in is doomed. The only way for us humans to be saved is through faith in Jesus Christ. Those who follow Jesus have the promise of being allowed to participate in the resurrection to eternal life on God's new earth. In this new world, technology will play only a minor role—if at all. The focus will be on the fellowship of people with God and Jesus Christ. This is the foundation for lasting peace, freedom, security, and prosperity.
God gives us everything we need to be happy. Instead of continuing to invest in technological development, we are called to use our short lifetime in this transient world to reconcile ourselves with our Heavenly Father. For without God, all human progress and effort are in vain...
Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you (...).
If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit.
If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all His commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths
for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Continue Your love to those who know You, Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
